When Halwell Mutual and Dumfries Mutual merged to form HD Mutual Insurance Company, the organization required a brand identity that would unify two long-standing institutions while positioning the new entity for the future. With more than 160 years of combined history, the rebrand needed to strike a careful balance between heritage, trust, and modern relevance. Our goal was to create a cohesive, approachable brand that reflects stability, community focus, and forward momentum within the insurance industry.
At the center of the new visual identity is a custom-designed icon inspired by the letterforms “H” and “D.” The icon serves as a recognizable brand mark that feels both contemporary and timeless. A refined colour palette and clean typography were selected to reinforce clarity, professionalism, and accessibility across all touchpoints. These foundational elements were brought together in a comprehensive brand guidelines document to ensure consistent application across print, digital, and social platforms.
To support internal teams and external partners, we developed an extensive suite of branded assets, including patterns, iconography, and layout systems. Corporate identity materials such as business cards, letterhead, and stationery were designed to establish a strong and consistent professional presence. Each piece was created with flexibility in mind, allowing the brand to scale across departments and future initiatives.
The rebrand extended into HD Mutual’s digital presence with the design of a new website that aligns visually with the brand identity while prioritizing usability and accessibility. The website presents information clearly, supports customer trust, and offers a welcoming experience for both existing policyholders and prospective clients. In addition, customized social media templates and a dedicated social media style guide were created to help the internal team maintain consistency while engaging the community online.
The result is a modern insurance brand that honors its roots while confidently looking ahead—supporting HD Mutual Insurance Company’s mission, values, and long-term growth.
